I am Susan Ivanova, daughter of Andrei and Sofie Ivanov. Your computer systems don't consider it "valid," but I was born on August 30, 2230 in St. Petersburg, the Russian Consortium. Do the math. I don't belong here in this past, and I refuse to stay in it.

So, let's get a few things straight, shall we? I'm Russian. I'm Jewish. I entered Earthforce Academy in 2247, so if you paid attention to my first command to you, you should be able to calculate how early I started. I graduated from the OTC in 2249. I've served on Earth, Io, and Babylon 5, including a few years as Executive Officer of Babylon 5. I've been back in time before to make sure Babylon 4 traveled into the past so that the past happened as it has always happened, otherwise the present would be compromised and we would've surely lost the Shadow War. If that doesn't make rational sense to you, maybe you and I have some understanding after all. I've been to war twice, the last against my own home to free it from a dictator, President Clark. I uncovered solid proof that he'd assassinated President Santiago after we'd known it, but couldn't prove it. Much to my annoyance, I headlined the "Voice of the Resistance" to cut through Clark's bullshit and propaganda. When I left my time, I was to take command of the Titans, one of a new class of destroyer. If you think I'd hesitate to pull the trigger, I wouldn't. Do not push me.

I actually love beaches. I honestly wouldn't mind retiring to one someday. But not this beach. This beach is not a beach. This is a stretch of sand that shouldn't exist, especially the seagulls. Don't let it fool you. And I'm not by any means ready to retire yet.

This is a roleplaying journal for the game seasidecafe. The character Susan Ivanova, portrayed by Claudia Christian on Babylon 5, belongs to creator J. Michael Straczynski and whomever he's had to share ownership with, which doesn't include me.
